She joined UN Women (then UNIFEM) in New York in 2006 as Programme Specialist in the Governance and National Planning Section. From 2013 to 2016, she served as UN Women Deputy Representative in Sudan. Prior to joining UN Women, she has worked in UNDP Poverty Group and at the UN Millennium Project in New York, as well as in the private sector in Senegal.
Fatou holds a Masters in Law from the University of Dakar, a Masters in Sustainable Development from SIT and a Masters in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy/Tufts University.
Her passion and commitment to working for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment date back to the Beijing Conference in 1995, which she attended as youth delegate for her country, Senegal.
