Conference Bursaries

FrenchSubmit bursary application

APPLICATIONS FOR BURSARIES ARE NOW CLOSED.

The African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer is pleased to offer a limited number of bursaries for its AORTIC 2017 Conference. The submission system opened 15 February 2017 and closed 28 April. No further applications will be accepted after this date.

Applications must be submitted by 28 April and will be assessed by the AORTIC 2017 Bursary Committee.

Financial assistance to attend the conference will take the form of waived or discounted registration fees (between USD 300 and USD 500). All travel and accommodation expenses remain the responsibility of the bursary recipient. The amount of financial support that can be awarded is dependent upon the success of the conference fundraising efforts.

Eligibility
Preference will be given to

  • Programme participants (including presenters of accepted oral or poster abstracts), and
  • AORTIC members based in Africa.

The bursaries are intended to support individuals who would not otherwise be able to meet the registration fee required to attend the conference.

Conditions
The award of a bursary will be conditional upon the recipient:

  • Motivating that they require financial assistance to attend the conference
  • Attending the full conference and participating in the programme (session facilitator, invited speaker, or presenting an oral or poster abstract)
  • Ensuring they can meet all the travel and accommodation costs associated with attending the conference

Application Process
Applicants are required to complete an application form, which will be made avaliable here when the submisson system opens 15 February.

On the form you will need to give a 300 word motivation. This motivation needs to give a detailed explanation of (1) why you wish to attend AORTIC 2017, (2) the contribution that you believe your attendance will make to the conference and to your affiliated institution, and (3) why you require financial assistance to attend the conference.

The closing date for applications is 28 April 2017.

The AORTIC Bursary Committee will review the applications and determine the successful recipients. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by email in June 2017. If you have not received notification by 22 June, please contact the Conference Secretariat at info@aorticconference.org.

Successful bursary applicants will be given a registration code to use in the online registration system and must register using this code by 30 June 2017 or they will forfeit their bursary.

Bursaries will take the form of discounted or waived registration fees only. No cash will be disbursed.

Any outstanding balance of registration fees, along with all travel and accommodation expenses (e.g. flights, accommodation, visas, travel insurance, inoculations, etc.) remain the responsibility of the recipient.

As only limited bursaries will be given out, applicants are encouraged to apply for funding elsewhere. However, applicants are only eligible to be awarded one AORTIC related bursary (this includes the AORTIC 2017 Bursaries, and bursaries associated with AORTIC programmes).
