Destination

Rwanda is emerging as a regional hub and boasts one of sub-Saharan Africa’s fastest GDP growth rates. It is one of the continent’s most competitive economies and is forward-looking and innovative, making big investments in technology and healthcare.

Rwanda is a growing tourist destination and features impressive architecture, a range of accommodation from budget to five–star, a booming design and art scene and even lively nightlife. Kigali is arguably one of the most attractive capital cities in Africa, as well as one of the cleanest and safest.

While attending the AORTIC conference in Rwanda, participants might consider taking time to explore the undulating green landscape of the Land of a Thousand Hills, or visiting a gorilla refuge.

Conference Venue

The Kigali Convention Centre (KCC), positioned on a hilltop in the heart of Kigali, was opened in 2016 and has already hosted numerous prestigious meetings including the 27th African Union Summit. The translucent dome is modelled on a traditional King’s palace and contains multi-functional halls with a capacity of 2,600.  The floorplan of the venues we will be using is available here.

There are more than 8,000 hotel rooms across the city of Kigali, which has prioritised the conference industry and has taken many steps toward making it an attractive and practical destination for international conference participants.

Flight information

Kigali International Airport (KIA)’s recently upgraded facility is a quick 15-minute drive from the city centre, allowing for easy transport for conference participants.

The airport’s recent expansion programme has increased passenger capacity to 1.5 million annually, accommodating approximately 400 weekly flights. The national carrier RwandAir, among the fastest-growing airlines on the African continent, is at the centre of this growth, providing connections to business hubs across Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
