Cancer Risk Assessment and Genetic Counselling

Don't miss an exciting opportunity to update your knowledge of genetics! This workshop will focus on fundamental concepts and case-based learning for clinicians who want to integrate genetics into their clinical practices. In order to tailor this workshop to your experiences, barriers and practice needs, we encourage you to submit a challenging or interesting case from your practice related to the use of genetic counselling and testing for cancer risk assessment to Kristyna Hulland (khulland@bsd.uchicago.edu) by 14 November. AORTIC Research Committee Town Hall Meeting

Presentations include Perspectives on Developing African Cancer Research from the NCI by Dr. Ted Trimble, and from the South Africa MRC by Dr. Cristina Stefan, a presentation on Developing Communities of Research Practice by Dr. Yuri Quintata from Harvard University, and a discussion of the development of an Africa Cancer Research Alliance. All meeting attendees are invited to participate.

Pathology Immunohistochemistry Workshop
Full day, Thursday 19 November | At a hospital (transport provided)
The pathology special interest group (aka African Pathologists Forum) in AORTIC is pleased to organize an immunohistochemistry (IHC) workshop at the 2015 AORTIC conference in Marrakech, Morocco. This is a comprehensive one day workshop providing hands on experience in practical IHC techniques with didactics on the basics of IHC applications, interpretation and troubleshooting. The cost efficient use of antibody panels (especially in low resource countries) in the diagnosis of undifferentiated tumors, soft tissue sarcomas, hematopatholoy and CNS tumors will be presented by experts in the various fields.

NB: Only registered AORTIC 2015 Conference delegates may attend this workshop. Participation is limited to 40 delegates, and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis. To reserve your space complete this form are return it to admin@aortic-africa.org.
