The African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC) is pleased to announce its seventh international conference on the burden of cancer in Africa

REGISTRATION FOR AORTIC 2009 IS CLOSED
Registration for AORTIC 2009 is now closed. Capacity has been reached and the AORTIC 2009 Conference Secretariat will not accept any more registrations, ahead of the conference or on-site. Please do not plan to arrive at the conference without having registered: registration is closed and no more bookings will be accepted.


PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP: CANCER EPIDEMIOLOGY

Delegates who have registered for the Cancer Epidemiology pre-conference workshop are invited to bring their laptops to the session. While it is not a prerequisite, it would be helpful if you do have your own laptop.


DELEGATE AND SPEAKER REGISTRATION

The Registration Desk will be open Tuesday, 10 November (08h00 - 17h00), Wednesday, 11 November (08h00 - 17h00), Thursday, 12 November (07h00 - 17h00), Friday, 13 November (07h00 - 17h00) and Saturday, 14 November (07h00 - 11h30). It will be located in the Kikwete Hall at the Kunduchi Hotel and Beach Resort.

As soon as you are able, please go to the Registration Desk in order to collect your name tag and delegate bag. A name tag is required for access to the conference so be sure you have yours with you at all times.


SPEAKERS – POWERPOINT PRESENTATIONS
Please remember to deliver your PowerPoint presentation to the SPEAKERS PREP ROOM 24 hours prior to the session in which it will be presented. Please bring it with you on a USB memory stick and give it to the technician who will ask you to sign for it. Note that PowerPoint presentations will not be accepted by email, or in the session rooms, and no personal laptops can be used.

Please note that PowerPoint presentations cannot be used in Breakfast Sessions or the Opening Ceremony.

AORTIC MEDIA SUMMIT WITH AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY (ACS)
AORTIC and the American Cancer Society (ACS) will hold a Media Summit at the Kunduchi Hotel and Beach Resort on Tuesday, 10 November. All AORTIC 2009 delegates are invited to attend, and you can find more information here, including the agenda.

Entitled “Fighting the Cancer and Tobacco Pandemic in Africa” the summit will include a panel of speakers comprising Dr Otis Brawley, ACS Chief Medical Officer; Professor Lynette Denny, Secretary Treasurer of AORTIC and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Cape Town; Professor Serigne Gueye, Professor of Urology at the University of Cheikh Anta Diop and Head of Urology at the Hopital General de Grand Yoff; Dr Twalib Ngoma, President of AORTIC and Executive Director of the Ocean Road Cancer Institute; and Dr Olufunmilayo Olopade, Professor of Medicine and Human Genetics, Director, Cancer Risk Clinic, University of Chicago Medical Center and AORTIC Council Member.
